Tips For Getting To Meet Your Favorite Rock Band

When you passionately follow a specific rock band, getting to see the group in concert when it comes to a local venue is a huge thrill. Perhaps the only thing that might trump this exciting event is actually getting to meet the band. Your likelihood of meeting your favorite rock band depends, in part, on the group's success. Higher-profile acts are generally less accessible, whereas those that are up and coming can be easier to meet. Either way, here are some tips that you can use to hopefully meet the band.

Follow It On Every Social Media Platform

Social media makes even big-name bands more accessible to their fans than ever before, so it's imperative that you follow your favorite rock band on every available social media platform. (If you're too young for any specific account, have your parents or older siblings follow the band and keep you apprised of any news.) Sometimes, bands will offer contests to their social media followers that allow people to win a chance to meet the band at an official meet-and-greet event; if you aren't following, you won't have this chance.

Be Smart At Concerts

Often, you don't need to win a contest or have a backstage pass to meet your favorite rock band at the venue. Your success simply depends on your level of commitment to this goal. Getting to the venue several hours early and waiting outside can be effective. Perhaps you'll beat the band there, and its members will walk past you on the way in. Or, perhaps the band will already be there, but a member or two will go outside to smoke. Either way, your presence gives you a good shot at meeting the band. Similarly, if you're able to hang out around the band's bus after the show, you can often expect to meet the band.

Watch For Late-Release Tickets

Even if you've bought your ticket to the show, you should keep an eye out for tickets that are released to the public on the day of the event. Sometimes, bands and partners such as local radio stations will give away or sell VIP tickets, which can often include backstage access or an opportunity to spend a few minutes meeting the band and getting some autographs and photos. Don't be shy about calling the venue or your local rock radio station the day of the concert to ask about such a release.

Another option is to listen to more local bands, since they are often more approachable.
