Music Is My Therapy

Three Things To Think About When Booking A Live Singer

Live singers are, undoubtedly, one of the main highlights of any event. They just bring a certain intangible quality to an event that no pre-recorded playlist ever could, and they help get the crowd on their feet and into the action. However, when booking a live singer for events, it is easy just to book them and forget about it until the day. That will not do, as you need to ensure a few things are done in the lead-up to the event so that you get the best out of them and they are prepared for what you want. Here are three things you need to think about and then get into contact with your live singer so you can discuss them before your event.

Dress Code

Most live singers will come in semi-formal clothing that is quite unoffensive and goes with virtually every theme. For men, this could be a simple black suit, and for women, it could be a formal dress of some kind or something to that effect for both of them. If your party or event has a special theme that you want your live singer to be a part of then you may have to get them the clothing you want them to wear before the day. You do also have to check that they are fine wearing something different and that this is not outside their comfort zone, but most live singers are happy to accommodate.

The Setlist

This might seem odd that someone would forget to mention what songs they might like their live singer to perform before the big night but it happens more than you would think. In those cases, most live singers will just curate a playlist of crowd favorites, but if you do have specific songs that you want you really should talk to them about this when booking them. You should also include notes about which songs you want performed a couple of times or any other pieces of information you think would improve the evening. A live singer wants you to be happy and the crowd to have a great night, but they can only do this to the best of their ability if you help them out a bit!

Potential Speeches And Other Interruptions

If you have a period in your event where you want to make speeches, or there will be a break in the evening's music, then you should talk to them about this beforehand. This will help them better plan out the songs they will perform so that they can come to natural conclusions about when a break would be appropriate, and so that they don't hype up a crowd too much before there will be a pause for other activities.
